We used POC models, couture-style makeup, and vibrant high energy colours to show an unconventional representation of poc and how they have the power of choice to conform or rebel against modern beauty standards. They also have an emerging active role in influencing trends during a time which is starting to shift beyond eurocentricism.

As asians, we are often stereotyped as born intelligent, but the intersection of being female carries the stale characteristics of either gold-digging or meekness. I wanted to subvert ideas of roboticism and invalidation of our achievements, lack of representation as individuals, and show that asian women should be respected and powerful in their own way. In addition, I want to encourage creative self-expression or hobbies/occupations if you want to, without guilt, despite pressure to pursue "intellectual" jobs due to past family sacrifice.

There are restrictive stereotypes on asian men as being intelligent but socially inept, and emasculated. We decided to challenge the pressures that they face, and instead inviting them to do what they want, which may include beyond traditional western masculinity. That may not be in such an obvious manner as the make up looks, but the freedom to choose your own form of presentation should be accessible to everyone without invalidation, through fashion, music, art, hobbies, etc.

Who are you? What matters to you? What are the various groups or qualiies that define your identity? Do you accept or reject labels given by society? Have you decided your own identity? How does that show through in the way you act and dress?
What are your dreams? What have you been putting off until after wace? What are the little things that make your day?
What is your presence around others? What will your effect on the world be? Our existence is a ripple in the macrocosmos.
